John EDWARDS and Susannah YEO
John EDWARDS (b 1769 Northam) marries Susannah YEO (b. 1771) on Christmas day in Ilfracombe in 1794. John Edwards was master of a packet ship called the Jane for about twenty years from 1812-1822. (Susannah YEO's parents were William YEO and Susannah COATES who were also from Ilfracombe.) Their children were Susannah, William Yeo 1, John, Mary Ann, William Yeo 2 and Susannah Jane. Susannah and William Yeo 1 die as children. John marries Marianne SAUNDERS of Chittlehampton, and they settle in Barnstaple, then Bristol. Mary Ann marries David BANKS (mariner) and moves to Charleston, Cornwall; William Yeo (also a mariner) marries Maria GILBERT, then Clementia BARKER. He is the master of the Countess Fortescue, The Gem and The Artistic through various times in his life. He moved to Barnstaple and then Cardiff here he had a shipping and brokerage business. He dies in Cardiff in 1888. Susannah Jane remains single and lives in Ilfracombe, then Berrynarbour where she dies in 1876. The family plot is in Trinity Parish church in Ilfracombe. I would like to talk to anyone researching this family.
