In the 1851 Census for Stalmine dist.1a, p11 at Green Man Bridge there was the family of James Whitehead head Mar 57 farmer of 10 acres b. Claughton...Mary Whitehead wife Mar 57 b. Claughton (nee Greening)...Elizabeth Whitehead daur. Unm 33 - farmer's daur. b. Claughton...Jane Whitehead daur. Unm 30 - weaver b. Claughton...Thomas Whitehead son Unm. 28 - wool comber b. Claughton...Henry Whitehead son Unm 26 - wool comber b. Claughton... Hannah Whitehead daur Unm. 23 - weaver b. Claughton...Jame Whitehead son Unm 19 - farmer's son b. Claughton.
Try as I might, I cannot find them in 1861. In 1871 James, Mary and Jane were back in Garstang Dist.5 p9 at Bradley Hill, Claughton, with grandson Thomas H Billington. Does anyone know where they were in the meantime?
