McMahon origins in Ireland: Tyrone?
My primary need is to find Robert McMahon's Irish roots. I know that, in Augusta Virginia, Robert had neighbors and relationships that may provide a clue to his origins in Ireland. I have reason to believe that he, and several of his Virginia neighbors, had been planters in the North of Ireland.

Robert McMahon/McMachon came to the US in the early to mid-1700's. By 1742, Robert (b. abt. 1706, IR?) was in Augusta County, Virginia. An Augusta court record of 1747 shows his wife's name as Joan or Jean.

In Augusta County, Virginia, Robert's nearest neighbors and closest aquaintances included Lockhard/Lockhart, Donaghy, Reaburn, Walker and Campbell. (His second wife was Widow Reaburn and one Hugh Donaghy married Robert's granddaughter.)

In their book "The Scotch-Irish" Bill & Mary Durning show Protestant McMahon (Irish), Donaghy (Scotch) and Campbell (Scotch) families as planters in County Tyrone; Barony Dungannon; Parish, Aghaloo.

Any information on these people would be most welcome I hope that having other family names, along with McMahon, may provide a clue to the famiy's origins and suggest a migration pattern.
