John James is recorded on 1871 census as living in barracks at east stonehouse plymouth and is a corporal He is missing off the 1881 census but his wife (no marriage cert found) Charlotte James nee Taylor,(born Plymouth) aged 30yrs is living with Daisy and Winnifred B at 13, Clarence Place East Stonehouse, Plymouth. On Daisy's birth cert 22.02.1875 father is recorded as Edwin James Gentleman, on Winifred B's birth cert 12.01.1881 father is recored as Edwin Ignatious James, Gentleman. On Cora May's birth cert 21.04.1883,father is recorded as John Ignatious James Paymaster's clerk 12th regiment.
!891 census records John James With his family living at 23, Union Street, East Stonehouse. John James service number is thought to be X4121.
John is my great great grandfather and is proving to be illusive any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
