Purkis/Ellingford /Bonner /Smith/Brown/Cadman
Mary Ellingford and John Purkis witnessed the marriage of Sarah Smith and Mathew Bonner ,at St. Stephens Church Great Wigborough in 1783.John Purkis married into the Cadman family , into which, Sarah had married prior to her marriage to Humphrey Smith ,and then, her final marriage to Mathew Bonner. Her maiden name may have been Brown. Mary Ellingford , nee , Bonner was a relative of Mathew's. Does any one have any info. on them?
I am researching Essex Bonners ,but am unable to get over the " brick wall " which starts with the baptism of my ancestor, Mathew Bonner, who may have been born about 1760.Alas, I can not find a baptism for him, having searched as many of the parishes in and around Grt. Wigborough as I can He married in Great Wigborough in1783 .I have a son and grandchildren in Canada, and would so much like to leave them as complete a family tree as possible.
Mathew was a farmer and, I suspect ,came from a large farming family. His wife Sarah Smith, was a widow ,and possibly10 years his senior. If anyone has any info. on my enigmatic 3 times great grandparents , or their origins, please be generous and share it with me.
