Emary, Vernon, Strange, Roberts
In 1826, William Emary (of St. Clement's, Hastings) m. Sarah Ashdown Strange (b.31 Jan 1802, at Tunbridge Wells, d.13 Jan 1869), at Tonbridge. They were the parents of my g-grandmother, Harriette (17 Jan 1830 - 25 Dec 1899, at Tunbridge Wells). In c.1854, Harriette m. John Roberts (b.1825, Fletching, Sussex). They lived first in Tunbridge Wells, moved to Hadlow in 1859, where he worked as a traveller for the local brewery. There were five children: Caroline (b.1855, Tunbridge Wells), Charles Emary (b.1856, Tunbridge Wells), Elizabeth (b.1859, Hadlow), Edith Sarah (b.1863, Hadlow), and Kate (my grandmother, b. 9 Aug 1867, Hadlow). William Emary probably was uncle or cousin to the family of Albert Emary, of Hastings Sussex (1881 Census). Among the few items I have that belonged to Kate Roberts is a news clipping, announcing the marriage of Albert Emary's youngest daughter, Julia Kate, to Fitzpatrick Henry Vernon, 2nd Baron Lyveden (1824-1900), on 15 Oct 1896. I would welcome contact from my cousins who share this ancestry.
