SMITH FAMILY OF SOUTHWOLD
Looking for information on SIDNEY SMITH(b.1840)who married ELIZABETH ANN WATSON(b.1834 Watton,Norfolk). Sidney was the Headmaster of the National School and was dismissed after a disagreement with the vicar.Their children were: HERBERT SIDNEY(b.1866 married NANCY?-he was a chemist and moved to Calne in Wiltshire. They had no children)and FREDERICK SIDNEY(b.1867 married ELEANOR MARY MESSETER in Calne, Wiltshire. He was a jeweller and watchmaker). Frederick and Eleanor Smith were my gt.grandparents. Father Sidney's parents were HENRY SMITH(a master mariner originally from Lydd in Kent) and PHILLIS DEAN of Southwold. They married in Southwold in 1823.They had four other children apart from Sidney; BETSEY(b.1824), ALFRED(b.1833), PHILLIS PALMER(b.1834)and WILLIAM DEAN(b.1837).He must have been at sea a lot judging by the gaps between the children!!!Elizabeth Ann Watson's parents were BURTON WATSON and MARY CARLEY SECKER of the Swaffham area, Norfolk.
