SMYTH, DIAMOND,LEINSTER, looking for family
BALLYCASTLE and area around. The Smyths were apparently blacksmiths from Mill Street Ballycastle. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth SMYTH (1883). Her parents were Elizabeth and William Smyth. I believe William had a brother named Hugh(1852) married to Eliza (1887)and they had a very large family. my grandmother married Samuel Finlay DIAMOND. They emigrated to Philadelphia USA. I am looking for any information about these 2 families. I am especially interested in finding the maiden name of my grandmothers mother (Elizabeth). also any information about her brother William SMYTH. I have a photo of William in uniform about 1914 but I can't find any other info' about him. There are records for Samuels brothers, Andrew DIAMOND, Joseph DIAMOND, Hugh DIAMOND and a nephew Harry/Henry DIAMOND. I beleive one of the DIAMONDS had a shop in the 'Diamond' Ballycastle and another had something to do with shoemaking. Another surname connected to the family is LEINSTER and the towns of LARNE AND JORDANSTOWN. I would be delighted if someone had any information about my family. I am also looking for an old street map of Ballycastle around 1900, anyone with ideas of where to find one? Thanks for reading this I hope I will be successful. Anita
