"When I was about 11 years old (i.e. 1923), the family broke up because we had not paid the rent. We got evicted from our house in Clapham, Bob (the eldest of the 3 brothers) went on to live in digs while Cyril (i.e. my father) and I went to the Home of the Good Shepherd, not far away. It was a very good home. We had a most enjoyable time there. After that when I started work the family got together again and we lived in Lewisham to start with and then onto Brockley and finally Lee, SE London".
Internet research suggests that the home was the Clapham Home for Boys run by the Anglican Society of the Good Shepherd (Order of St Benedict).
I would be very interested in any insights into the home and the background to the boys' admission if any records still exist.
