Thomas Wells, daughter Lavinia
Born in Upton St Leonards, Gloucester.
Citizen and clothworker. In 1851 was at Phemice farm in Bookham. He was a farmer of 300 acres , unmarried with a shepherd, a milkman and 2 house servants. Lavinia was married by then.
In 1861 he was still there and married to Elizabeth and had an unmarried daughter in law (?stepdaughter) called Sarah Holdsworth living with them.There were also two ploughboys and a 12 year old servant girl.
In 1871 was in the parish of Holmwood in Dorking as a farmer of 164 acres employing 5 men and 4 boys. He is living with his wife, Elizabeth and a servant.
In 1881 aged 72 he was still married but staying with his brother, James, at his farm, Elmbridge court in Churchdown, Gloucestershire. Elizabeth is at Harrow Road West with Mary Holdsworth who is described here as her niece and two visitors, Francis and Jane Saunders. he is a builder.
In 1891 he was back in Dorking, in Manor Road West, living on his own means and a retired farmer.He has 2 female servants with the same surname.
