Charles & Ann Hewitt, Clerkenwell
I am trying to follow the family of CHARLES HEWITT, Jeweler & his wife ANN LOUISE. By the census information CHARLES was born abt 1810, Middlesex,England. I have found this gentleman in the 1841, 1851, 1861 & 1881 census all in Middlesex. In all the records he gave his occupation as jeweler or working jeweler. ANN (last name unknown) was born abt 1813 also in Middlesex
(as per the 1841, 1851 & 1861 census), the 1881 census however gives her birth about 1825 (which could mean the wife mentioned with Charles could be a 2nd wife).

They had the following children (again worked out via census records):

CHARLES b: abt 1835, Middlesex is with his parents in the 1841 & 1851 census & in 1851 his occupation is given as jeweler.
HENRY b: abt 1837, Middlesex, only appears with his parents in the 1841 census.
WILLIAM b: abt 1840, Middlesex, appears with his parents in 1841 & 1851.
JANE (my line) b: abt 1843, Birmingham, appears with her parents in 1851 & then with her husband, THOMAS PAYNE in 1871, Tottenham before she sails to South Australia with her husband & 4 children.
GEORGE b: abt 1845, Birmingham, appears with his parents in 1851 & 1861 census. In 1861 his occupation is given as a gold chain maker.
ALFRED b: abt 1851, Islington appears with his parents in 1851 & 1861 census & in 1871 he is with his sister, JANE & his occupation is given as waiter unemployed.
JOHN b: 1bt 1853, Middlesex appears with his parents in 1861 as a scholar.
HARRIET b: abt 1855, Middlesex appears with her parents in 1861 census.
ELLEN b: abt 1857, Middlesex appears with her parents in 1861 census.

Unfortunately this is all I know about this family. I am wondering if any of the names seem familiar to anyone. If anyone knows where I could find more information on Middlesex as there is not alot online as far as I can tell. Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Thanking you for your time.

Kind regards
South Australia.
