STAMP, Stone Mason of Dunkerton
I have a photo of a gravestone of Jesse STAMP which I think might be of interest to the couple from Portsmouth I met one wet Sunday afternoon in July in Dunkerton Churchyard. The stone is located in the graveyard of WITHYDITCH Baptist Chapel, just up the hill from Dunkerton.
The inscription reads: To the Memory of Jesse Stamp who died Sep 4th 1898 aged 79 years.
Also of Mary Stamp the beloved wife of the above who died June 30th 1910 aged 93 years.
I am the way the truth & the life.
There were also gravestones there that had the initials of J. Stamp on the side, presumablely engraved by him.
