James Sadler/Alfred Sadler
I am researching my family history and am hoping that I my be able to make contact with members or friends of my family going back through the 19th and 2oth century. What I do know in connection with my family in Swanage is that my grandfather moved to the Town from Winton in Hampshire and worked as a reporter for the Swanage Echo as well as being the Secretary of the Swanage Horticultural Society for many years. My father James was born in Christchurch in 1890 and moved with the family to Swanage. He fought in the 1st World War in the Royal Fusilliers, winning the Military Medal at the Somme in 1916. When discharged he returned to Swanage where he convalesced having been badly injured in the "Final Push" of 1918. Other members of my family who were in the area where Harold and Elsie Sadler who lived in Langton Matravers and Kate and Alf who lived in Herston. If any one has any knowledge of my family I would much appreciate hearing from them. My great grandfather also James was Lock keeper at Sonning on the Thames for 40 years in the 1800's
