Finan - Jarretts Buildings
I have Irish ancestors who came to live at Jarretts Buildings during the mining boom in the 1890's. Their surname is spelled in lots of different ways over the years, but in Worsborough it was written down as Finan! John Finan and his 3 sons George, William and Samuel settled here and raised families over the next 10 years or so, then moved and became separated to live in various towns in the area (one of them Darfield), presumably in the search for mining work. Other relatives living with them at Jarretts buildings were Peter & Ellen Kelly (from Ireland); James Finan; 3 brothers John, Henry & Richard Finan. There are also links with my Irish Cannon ancestors - but that's where it becomes complicated! If any of these people are linked to your research I'd be happy to exchange info. Sally
