Smith the gamekeeper
Hoping that someone may be able to follow up on George Smith and his family, who was a gamekeeper living at the keeper's lodge, Spofforth cum Stockeld in the 1881 census. George was born in Lincoln,Appx 1831, his wife Sarah born Peterborough,Appx 1833 and their family at the time consisted of Mary,14, born York, Harry,12, Born Kippax, Rosa, 10, Alice 7, and Tom 4 all born Swillington near Leeds. Since marrying in York in 1861, the family have moved around to Kippax before moving on to Spofforth, and George has had quite a few jobs, coal merchant, fishmonger before gamekeeper. They also had two elder daughters Emily and Louisa. Louisa is my wife's g/mother, and any information would be helpful, (even the 1891 census!), Thanks.
