looking into the life of my great great grandfather Matthew Harrison (1840- 1875), born soyland, married 1871 to Elizabeth Bottomley (1840? 1885?) and their son Albert born 1872. not found out whre he was in 1861, but by 1871 was mason and head of house called New York, Soyland. not finding it easy to go back or sideways... also interested in 'New York' and why it was called this....

Isaac Kershaw was born about 1787/88. He married Betty Broadhead at Elland in November 1809, both were from Soyland. They had at least five children, Harriet (1810), Mary (1812), Samuel (1815), Ruth (1819) and James (1823). Isaac died in July 1848 aged 62 years. Samuel is my 2 x great grandfather, I have information about many of his Descendants and also some regarding James which I am happy to share. I have not been able to find a record of Isaacs birth, and would like to move back one more generation, information about Harriet, Mary and Ruth would also be very welcome, can anyone help?

We used to live in Stones House, it was just within Soyland Town area It had been the family home for a number of Generations of the WHITELEY family who owned Stones Mills, Cotton.
