red mail Any assistance please
I am trying to trace information on Sarah A Collins born approximately 1863, daughter of Mary Weldon born approximately 1831 who was a widow in 1891 when I can last trace her on the census. Sarah Collins Married Richard Collins and had children Joseph, Richard, Mary and Walter. Her siblings are Eliza, Walter and Richard Weldon. All traces of the Weldons disappears from the census in 1891. Sarah Collins (Nee Weldon) I believe was an inmate (Lunatic) in Wadsley Asylum as of the 1901 census. The Weldons I believe were born in Barnsley but the Collins resided in Sheffield. I believe Richard Collins born approximately 1861 was from Ireland. Any information on the Weldons and Sarah Collins would be greatly apprecited as I have come to a standstill.

red mail Frederick COWEN (1799-1862) House Painter, Sheffield
My great-great-grandfather Frederick COWEN born in 1799 in Shoreditch, London the son of a Goege COWEN and Ann nee KINLOCH. Frederick moved first to West Bretton, Silkstone, Yorkshire as a House Painter about the mid 1820s and married a Rachel BECKWITH there in 1826. He also appears in 1841 Census with his family living at Thompson Square, Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield! I have been led to believe that Frederick also had a brother Henry COWEN who was born in Sheffield in October 1803. If so it seems to present a case for prior Sheffield connection.. I am therefore urgently searching for anyone with more information about this branch of the COWEN/COWAN family. Perhaps someone has early photos of these people, even later in their lives?? Anyway it would also be wonderful to have contact my distant COWEN cousins! Please write very soon. Thanking you very kindly. Cheers, Rob

red mail The Mystery of Waterhouse, Roebuck and Coldwell
I am looking for any information that someone might hold on a Hannah Roebuck and family (Husband’s and Children etc) who we believe was born about 1735. From what I have found she seems to have been married twice – Once to a William Waterhouse and once to a Joseph Coldwell. William, we believe, was from Bradfield, Yorkshire and then lived in Sheffield at some stage in his life and born about 1691. Joseph, we believe, lived and died in Thurgoland Cheesebottom. The story goes that Hannah married Joseph after becoming a widow when William died, however there seems to have been children born to Hannah and William that muddies this theory due to dates they where born comes after the date that we have been told that she married Joseph about 1757. Hannah and Williams children, supposedly, goes as follows: William Waterhouse born 1757, Thomas Waterhouse born 1757 in Sheffield, Joseph Waterhouse born 1759, Robert Waterhouse born 1764 in Sheffield, John Waterhouse born in 1770 in Sheffield, Septimus Waterhouse born 1770. Also Michael Waterhouse, James Waterhouse Elizabeth Waterhouse and Hannah Waterhouse all with birth dates unknown. This is a very tangled web of intrigue and if there is anyone out there that can shed any light on this great mystery I would be ever so grateful. Look forward to your reply – no matter how small or large. Tanya
