Nettleton/ Tummond
Looking and hoping for information on Ann Nettleton, b.appx 1800, married James Tummond April 22nd 1822, Rothwell. I can't find any details of her parents or siblings, although there are Nettleton's in the Carelton area.. are these the same? After marrying I believe they could have lived in Middleton. James and Ann had four children before her death in 1840. James appears on the 1841 census with Elizabeth,15, Sarah,14, Ann,12, and James 10. Again I have no firm evidence of James' family, parents or siblings.... did find some Tummonds in the Womersley/Doncaster area.....Are these connected. Any help would be a step forward please.

red mail Stead family Rothwell
Looking for information about the family of Wright Stead (born 1858 in Rothwell), married Alice Flockton (b 1866 Rothwell) married 1884. From a family of coal miners, brothers Joseph and Albert, sisters Sarah and Ann. His father was Joseph Stead (b 1831) who married Sarah Fieldsend (b 1829) no year for marriage. His father is John (?)Stead and mother Ann (?). It seems that at some stage Ann and Joseph were in the Poor House at Rothwell Haigh. Wright had five children Bertha (b 1886 emigrated to Australia), Joseph (b 1888 married "Minnie"), Thomas Albert (b 1892 my grandfather), Enid St John (b 1895 married George Ingall) and Robert Blatchford(b 1896. One of the Stead's fought in the Zulu Wars (we HAD a campaign medal - now lost). Finally, according to my Dad (now deceased) someone in the family was wealthy and gave away all his money to the poor in the Leeds area and has a memorial at a Leeds school. Any information or additional dates/family links would be most welcome.

red mail Nutter family in Rothwell
According to the 1851 and 1861 censuses, Ellis NUTTER was born in Rothwell in abt 1791. He married Maria, b abt 1805 in Sheffield and lived from about 1825 onwards in Hunslet. Ellis and Maria had about 7 children, all except the first were born in Hunslet and most continued to live in the Hunslet/ Holbeck area for the rest of thier lives. However, the first child, Ellen was born in Woolwich, Kent in abt 1823. Does anyone know anything about Ellis Nutter - where is the rest of his family (no other Nutters are recorded as living or being born in Rothwell in the census data)? How and where did he meet his wife from Sheffield? What was the family doing in Woolwich in 1823? And why did they trek all the way back home to Leeds (Rothwell and Hunslet being only 5 miles apart)? Can anyone help to identify Mrs Maria Nutter? Maria was my GGG Grandmother - lots of info about her descendants available. Many thanks in advance for any help. Jim
