red mail Elizabeth Addyman
Any information on Elizabeth Addyman would be welcome. Born 1856 at Ripley Clint or Hartwith. Became a servant (1871 Census) in the Bay Horse Inn at Felliscliffe. By 1881 married to Anthony Webster born 1853 at Bickerton. They lived at the Quarry House, Parkers Quarry, Skipton Road Harrogate, later in York. Had two sons, Thomas Edward (my maternal grandfather) born in Harrogate(attended the Bar Methodist church, I have two Bibles presented to him there) and George Frederick (who moved to Bristol). Probably five daughters - Mary Webster who died aged 60 in 1941, Eliza J Webster, Harriet Ellen webster(known as Nellie) who died aged 30 in 1920 from meningitis, Annie S Webster and Edith M Webster. Harriet Ellen and Mary are buried with their mother (Elizabeth Webster nee Addyman who died aged 93 in 1948) in a private grave in York Cemetery. Anthony Webster was described in Census returns variously as unemployed labourer or living on own means. He drowned in 1902 in the River Wharfe (living in York at that time).
