red mail Monumental Inscriptions
There are transcripts of monuments in the graveyards of Penistone Parish Church, Midhope Parish Church and Netherfield Chapel in the Dransfield Collection in Penistone Library. I am willing to do look-ups for anyone unable to visit personally.
red mail Priest
I am researching this family, especially Thomas PRIEST who married Sarah MITCHELL at nearby Silkstone 30 March 1812. His mother is described as a widow of Bradshaw when Thomas was baptised at Penistone 13 May 1785. Two possible candidates died shortly before: Benjamin Priest in Sept 1783 and John Priest in May 1784. Both were of Bradshaw, a farm near Langsett and several miles from Penistone church. Thomas himself left Bradshaw about 1820 (when the moors and commons were enclosed and so presumably the farming was no longer viable), worked in a mill in Glossop for a while, and then emigrated to New Zealand.
red mail Wordsworth Originating In Yorkshire
