my great grandfather joseph houseman lindsay was born in pateley 1874 and was married at pateley church in 1897 to kate bell. They had 2 children william and james 1904. Kate died soon after the birth of james and joseph died in 1908. joseph's father william lindsay was originally from scotland and had a buisness in pateley as a coal merchant. does anyone have any more information about the family. Looking for any information on the Wake family of Pateley Bridge. John Wake Married Elizabeth Norrie. They had four children that I know of. Son - Arthur Wake went to the United States in the early 1900's (my Grandfather), Daughters - Ann Wake and Edith Wake, and Son - William Wake. I was told that John Wake had a store on High Street in Pateley Bridge. Arthur Wake took the middle name Wentworth when coming to the United States, married 03 Jul 1908, became a minister, and had six sons.

I'm searching for info on my maternal great great grandfather supposedly a policeman.His son - John Thomas was reputedly a publican in Pateley Bridge but can find no evidence of this. He died in 1931 aged 80. His wife (nee Rhoda Penrose) died in Wakefield. Any leads would be useful.
