red mail Booth/Greenwood
I am trying to resolve the mystery of my Gt Gt Grandparents. William & Caroline Booth. Caroline was called Greenwood before she married in 1888. My Gt Grandma was called Ruth Alice. On her birth certificate her Mum was listed as Caroline Greenwood. Her Father was not mentioned. On 1881 census Ruth Alice is named as Booth. She must still have been Greenwood because she is called that on her wedding certificate. My problem is I cannot find a birth for Caroline Greenwood she was born in Yorkshire approx 1855. Her father is not on the wedding cert. Does this name ring a bell with anyone or can anyone suggest anything I can do to trace Caroline. Thank you

red mail Old Holbeck Family
My family history centres on Holbeck from 1754-1878 where all my Metcalf branch have lived. Because we were present before the industrial revolution, we must not have been economic migrants. John Metcalf b.1754 is the earliest reliable ancestor that I can trace. If you know of any Metcalfs from this branch or indeed have any other information about Metcalfs in Holbeck, please let me know.
red mail Booth - Holbeck 1851
I've found one of my relations on the 1851 census in a Poorhouse in Holbeck. Her name is Alice Booth (then aged 7) with her brother Thomas (aged 10) and younger sister Elizabeth (aged 4). No parents though. I'm in doubt that they were abandoned so I presume that their parents had died. I know that there was a bad cholera epidemic around that time in North Yorks so I'm wondering whether it was this that claimed their lives. Is there anywhere I can get more information about this from? Thanks! Helen.
I'm searching for information about the family of Eliza Rodgers born 1849, who lived in Holbeck and Hunslet after 1866. She had a son named Herbert Rodgers. She then married 3 times, first to a Josiah Highton, then Joseph Walsh, then Edwin Newall. She had children with Joseph and Josiah. Herbert went on to marry Elizabeth Callaghan (born Leeds 1867). Census returns give vary the Callaghan surname and they may also be known as Calligan - the family appear to have originated in Ireland. Information about any of these families would be much appreciated.
