red mail Sutcliffe Family - Slater Ing
I am looking for information on the SUTCLIFFE's of 'Slater Ing Hall' or 'Higher Slater Ing' Heptonstall. I have reached a dead end in tracing a Mary Ann SUTCLIFFE b. 1822 who married/eloped/not really sure to a Joseph WHITE. If there was a marriage, I am led to believe this was 21 Jan 1840, but many records appear to be missing. I think I can safely say there was definately some scandal here - names were changed after this! Family letters give a full description of the house along with a ghost story which apparently resulted in the original house being abandoned and a new one being built nearby. Any information would be greatly received. TQ.
