Battle of Jutland
My Maternal family were mostly Mariners from Goole/Hull. I would be interested to know if any of them fought,or were in the Merchant Service ,and played a part in the Battle. Parsisson/Nuttal/Law/Oldridge are some of the Surnames.

I am looking for any information on my second great grandmother, Maud, I believe her maiden name is either TORN or BAXTER, born 1881, Crowle, Lincolnshire, she married twice to an Alfred TAYLOR, born 1874, also in Crowle, Lincolnshire, they had four children, Mary E TAYLOR, born 1899, Fred TAYLOR, born 1904 died 1985, Ada TAYLOR, born 1906 died 1970 and Annie M TAYLOR (my great grandmother) born 1909 died 1995. Maud then married (we assume) a Walter CLULEY, born 1961 died 1934. Walter and Maud had three children, Annie Maria CLULEY (we believe Annie moved to Owston Ferry, Lincolnshire, we believe this because my nan said she was sent there to live with aunt annie, when they had the blitz in Coventry when she was a young girl), Arthur CLULEY and Pearl J CLULEY, I know that Pearl was born 1915 and died 1936, she was 22 and I believe she took her own life in Coventry. Any help would be most appreciated, kind regards

When James Wake died in 1861, the shipbuilding was carried on by his son William who was born in Goole in c1835. I can't find any trace of William after 1879. Does anyone know what happened to him?

Most of them got married and lived in Goole, but some moved to Hull according to 1911 census. Lavinia was my paternal grandmother. Thornton Garner died in Goole in 1939.

I am trying to find any information about the schooner "Amy of Goole". I don't know for sure, but presume that this schooner worked from Goole. An ancestor worked on this ship back in 1866. I know that it travelled down to the River Thames & would love to know if anyone has knowledge as to what sort of goods it transported. Any information would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

Thomas Rowley was my 3rd great grandfather, I believe he married one Sarah Barker on May 5, 1818 in Snaith, Yorkshire. They had these children that I have info on. Thomas born Mar. 14, 1819; James G. born May 27, 1821; George born about 1823; Thamer born May 13, 1827; Robert born Jan. 1, 1828; Sarah born Dec. 30, 1829 (my 2nd great grandmother) who married Mark Meadowcroft. Thomas and some family members came to America in 1849. Any info. would be helpful.

Charlotte Barnard was born at Brigg, Lincolnshire in 1812, her father was John Barnard.She married Thomas Ramsey 11th June 1845, her father's occupation was put down as a seedman. Charlotte and Thomas had a son William who was born at Donside Goole 13th December 1846, they had a daughter Ann born in 1853, and another son John.In the 1861 to 1891 census their address was 28, Vermuyden Terrace, Goole. Thomas had been in the Navy and was a ship owner having part ownership of 3 ships, Thomas died 28th May 1893 aged 79 Charlotte died 22nd July 1899 aged 87, her son John informed of her death, his address was 8, Stafford Street, Hull.

Thomas Ramsey was born in 1814 at Hedon, he had a brother William who was born in 1812 (he was later a gentleman in London) Thomas married Charlotte Barnard from Lincolnshire at West Butterwick 11th June 1845. William their son was born at Donside,Goole 13th December 1846.A daughter Ann was born in 1853, and they had another son John who was living at 8, Stafford Street ,Hull in 1899.In the 1861 to 1891 census they were living at 28, Vermuyden Terrace, Goole.Thomas had Navy service and was part owner of three ships The Star, a 2 mast schooner built at Goole in1847 built by Mark Pearson. He owned this ship with Joseph Arnold of Knottingley and Jeremiah Bentley of Selby from 1848 until 1869 when it was transferred to London,the 2nd ship was The Ceres a 2 mast schooner which was built on Princess Island in 1855 built by John Morris, transferred to Hull in 1857, he owned this ship with Jeremiah Bentley now from Goole and Joseph Arnold of Knottingley they owned this ship until 1878. The 3rd ship was the Graceful which was a 2 mast brigantine bulit in Wells in 1857. Thomas owned this ship with Thomas and William Wright of Knottingley until it was sold to be broken up 13th June 1889.Thomas Ramsey died 28th May 1893 aged 79 and Charlotte Ramsey(nee Barnard) died 22nd July 1899 aged 87. William their son, my greatgrandfather was a ship broker in London.

Looking for any information on John and Ada Hearn of Widop St Goole. Beleove john Hearn worked for the Railways poss. a Station Master in early 1900-about 1930's.Their daughter Nellie Hearn married a Harry Steels in 1913 and she ran a grocers shop in Goole. Think Harry was a fisherman. They had a daughter, Violet who died young. I am guessing they were roman Catholics but can't find anything at Hook Road Cem in Goole. Is there a Catholic Section and is there a burial index anywhere for this cem.

Seeking info on my GG grandfather. Edmund SYKES. Born about 1817 Golcar, married Grace Jane HEPPENSTALL 11 Dec 1840 in Bolton le Moors, Lancs. Why there? They both came from the same area of Yorks. His father was Benjamin, a Manufacturer. Mother possibly Betty Hanson but not substantiated. Children Adam Hanson 1842, Ernest Augustus 1846, Jane Ann 1847, Lucy Flora 1849, John Henry 1852, also George Edward and Edward Barry dob not known. Edmund died between 1853 and 1861 as Grace was a widow living in London working as a teacher according 1861 census. John Henry and Lucy Flora were with her. Adam Hanson was in Norfolk. Where were the other family members? Any help, leads or info very greatefully received.

I am trying to follow our family tree and have found several contacts in the Goole Area for the surname of INGLEBY. My research so far starts from William Ingleby born about 1801 who was married to Ann Alsop but there is no mention of where he was born on the 1841 census. Is there anyone who can assist? There are several Ingleby's who were mariners with the Bennett Steamship Company. We would be very happy to hear from anyone who can help us in our search for lost relatives.

His father is Royce Davis (b.1912,Goole.d.1970 Bradford),Royce married Betty Maude Whewell Gill,1939,Bradford.Royce was a sergeant in the RAF,based in India during WW2. His father is John Davis,aka Jack,marine fireman/stoker (b. 1887 Goole) John Davis married a Laura Elizabeth Taylor(b.1885 Goole)in 1908. At this point it all gets a bit muddy,if anyone see's any connection with their family or can advise me on the best places to search,then please do get in touch.
