red mail Codders football team
Does anyone know anything about the Drighlington football team known as the Codders? My great-grandfather Percy Aspden was their goalkeeper in (I think) the 1920s, and I think they were associated with the Painters Arms pub. Any info would be appreciated: did they play in a league? Are there any photos of the team? When did it start? Anyone have any lists of fixtures etc? I think there's a team photo in a book on Drighlington by Vera Adams (?) but that's all I've ever come across, and I don't know where to start looking. Thanks.
red mail Aspden family
As far as I can make out, all Aspdens in Drighlington since the 1850s are descendants of Henry Aspden and Martha (nee Eastburn) who moved there from Bowling in the early 1850s with their children James, Joseph and Hargreaves (another son, John, was born in Drighlington). Any Drighlington Aspden information to complete connections by marriage etc gratefully received. If anyone has any Aspdens from Drighlington on their tree and wants information, ask and I'll see if I can help.
