Does anyone have memories of John and Emma (Tottie) Thorpe. John was a miner from about 1908 until an accident. In the early 1930s they lived at the Barleycroft Working Men's Club where he was the steward. After this they had a sweet shop/tobacconists etc at 35 Laughton Rd. Emma died in 1949 and John in 1955. My dad Stan was their youngest child who will be 95 next month. The other children were Elizabeth (Lil), Jack, Gladys, Florrie (known to some as Irene) and Ken, who worked in the shop. John's mum Elizabeth and stepdad Edward Plevey lived for a time in Dinnington and nearby Woodhouse Mill, where Emma came from. Her parents were George Frith Wheeler and Sarah Baines. John's sister Clara also lived in Dinnington with her husband John Gee and their children. Would love to hear from anyone who has any information, stories or photos. Carol
