red mail Squirrel Hall, Dewsbury
Does anyone have information about this house and Squirrel Hall farm next door? In 1851 my ancestor Mary Ann England, age 15, was housemaid at the Hall before the Dewsbury Union Workhouse (now a hospital) was built on adjoining land. The Hall has been demolished and houses now stand on the area but I should be interested to know more. The owner in 1851, Miss Smith, was a schoolmistress and I believe her brother, Robert, ran the farm. Photos would be appreciated.
