Annie Thornton ( nee Northin)
Annie THORNTON, a relative of my husband, died in March, 1999, in Bradford , Yorkshire, aged 94. Apparently, she was a widow, but I have not been able to find a marriage record for her. Annie's birth date was 28/11/1904 and she was the daughter of Walter Roberts NORTHIN and Eliza MOORE, who were married in 1901. Annie had a brother, Harold, born in 1902 and sister Alice born in 1916. I have searched in the Ancestry.com and Findmypast sites, but nothing shows up . Her name might have been incorrectly transcribed and I have tried variations of her surname, but still had no luck. Does anyone have any ideas about where else I can look, please? . Any help would be very much appreciated . Thank you.

red mail EATHERLEY, Susannah, died 1888
I am writing from Toronto, Canada. I have been working on the Eatherley / Eatherly line for some time now but much to my surprise I recently found a death registration for a Susannah Eatherley in Toronto in 1888. It says that she was married, 68 yrs. old, born in Bradford, England and Episcopalian (which is the American version of Anglican). I have no idea who she was or who her husband was! I cannot find any other reference to a Susannah Eatherley that fits the age and time. I suspect she might have been visiting from the US but don't know. The informant was the Doctor, so no help there.

red mail Waring family Keighley 17th-19th century
My GGF Denton Waring (1842-1902) was born and lived in Bradford. His father Collins Waring (1817-1873, m. Martha Busfield) was born in Keighley before himself moving to Bradford. Collins' father was John Waring (1777-1852, m. Ann -, lived Pinfold, Keighley); John's father was John Waring (1755-1832, m. Mary Sharp, lived Pinfold, Keighley); his father was Richard Waring (1720?-, m. Hannah Bradley, lived Keighley). Parish records show clearly the marriage of Richard to Hannah Bradley 19 Sep 1755 and that both lived in Keighley. The records also show Hannah's birth in Keighley in Sep 1732. However, the origins of Richard remain obscure. I can find no trace of a birth or baptism of any Richard Waring in/near Keighley (or his death). The only Richard Waring I can identify who would fit the bill in terms of age was born in Wragby, some 30 miles away and the other side of Wakefield. It is tempting to believe that, in the absence of other data, my Richard must have come from Wragby but....... Any suggestions?

They were all green grocers or fruiterers, I cannot find the births for any of these three. On Samuel marriage certificate there is no father, on Thomas's there is a Joseph Crowther. Cannot find Joseph Crowther and Elizabeth's marriage. On the 1851 census there is a lodger Joseph Crabtree 10 younger than Elizabeth. Thomas's son Joseph is in bankcrupcy court in 1878 having lost a good deal of family money trading as j crabtree - fruiterer. The family stayed in green grocery and rebuilt the business up to 1940 when Joseph's son Thomas Edward died. Does anyone out there know anything about these Crowthers?

red mail Murby Holmes' father JONAS HOLMES Windhill, Idle Yorkshire
Murby Holmes is my great grandfather born in 1865 in Idle, Shipley, Yorkshire. His mother was Ann Holmes (nee Murby) and his father was JONAS HOLMES - this is the person I am looking for! Jonas Holmes was born about 1832 in Idle (I think - the information about him on various censuses seems to change). At the age of ten in 1841 he was not living with his parents, but with a family (not called Holmes) in Idle. Likewise, ten years' later he is described as a lodger with another family in Idle, no 'Holmes' relatives in sight! His marriage certificate to Ann in 1857 at Manningham Parish Church in Bradford does not state who his father was - the area is crossed out. Jonas fathered three children with Ann including my great granddad Murby, but Jonas died aged 39 in 1871 of 'general debility' and the coroner of Yorkshire, Thomas Taylor had to speak at his inquest, which all sounds rather dramatic. I am very curious to find out who Jonas' parents were. Perhaps he was illegitimate and his mother was a 'Holmes' or, perhaps his parents both died young? Did he even know his father - if he didn't enter him on his marriage certificate? Was he even baptised (I can't find any official birth record for him)? He doesn't seem to have any siblings, nor is he appearing in the birth/ baptism records for Idle Parish Church (which are on-line). His death is recorded in these records though. I don't know how to find out about him as he was born before 1837. Is it possible to find out about the inquest into his death held on 21 June 1871? Any help would be very much appreciated. I have good records for Murby Holmes onwards but I am drawing a blank at Jonas and would like to find out a bit more about this man's life. A humble labourer and 'engine tenter' who died very young in unforeseen circumstances but, without whom I wouldn't be here enjoying life in the 21st century. Thank you
