red mail Tredgold Family
My husbands family walked from Alcester, Warwickshire to Yorkshire, in search of work, in the 19th century. They settled in Altofts, Normanton in East street and became miners. I cannot find East street on today's maps, so I presume the houses were pulled down at some point. His great Grandad was Edwin/Edward Tredgold, wife Mary Ann Tredgold nee Clayton and many children. One of their sons, Edward, died in 1885 in a pit accident, he was crushed by a corves. His grt. grandad was rumoured to have died in the pit, also, but his death cert. records his death at home at 25, East Street, and the cause was pneumonia. I wonder if anyone has any information about the pit houses of East Street or has any connection with the Tredgolds, there are many in Yorkshire.

Edith married GEORGE JOLLIFFE and they had two girls - Christine and Margaret. Winnie's husband was named ERNEST but they had no children.
