All years of birth are approximate. Two IGI records show William christened 5 Jun 1814 Ackworth, parents of William Sykes and Jane Wilkinson or William Sykes b. 29 Jun 1914 in Moortop, Ackworth, parents thomas Sykes and Ann. Daughter Mary married George Senior (1837-1881?) in 1866, Barnsley.

Ackworth 1812 had children Thomas b.1834(also boot & Shoe maker, marr.Fanny Barker b.Ledston) Edwin b. 1838, George b. 1839, Mary b. 1842, William b.1846( my g grandfather marr. Alice Barker b.Ledston think she is sister to Thomas' wife Fanny) Jane b.1846, Abraham b. 1848 d.1854, Harriet b. 1849. I know that Charles, Ann (baptised Nancy) & Abraham are all buried in St. Cuthberts Ackworth as are Thomas and wife Fanny as the headstone to the latter two is still in place. Charles and Thomas are in the Ackworth Trade Directories from 1861 to 1888.I would love to know where thier business premises were. Also one of thomas and Fannys' sons a Charles F. Atkinson moved to Acomb York and marr.a Maria (Walton ?) he was a gardner and they lived at one time at 53 Gladstone street Acomb. Any info gratefully recieved

My grandfather Fred Frost had a nursery garden business at Ackworth Moor Top from around 1930 through to the late 1940s. He lived at Charlestown, Ackworth for most of that time. I would be grateful for any information about him or his nursery.
