WILLIAMSON - (Westerdale - Yorkshire, North Riding)
Major Williamson was baptised on 23 June 1734 at Kirby in Cleveland, son of Major Williamson. He married Sarah Hunt at Newton by Guisborough. Their first two children were baptised there, the following three at Great Ayton, then the last two at Westerdale. Major was 86 when he died. I believe his mother was called Mary as his sister Sarah who died in Hawnby in 1782 has this burial register entry:- "Sarah of Hawnby, daughter of Major and Mary Williamson of Broughton, Labourer. Buried in churchyard. Age 36". There are gaps in the Kirby in Cleveland church records and I am unable to find a marriage for Major and Mary.
