This Mary Dodgson is a sister of my gggg grandfather. In the Great Edstone parish records I have found a marriage of a Mary Dodgson, spinster, to a Richard Tindall in 1775. There is also a marriage of a Thomas Wittons to a Mary Dodgson, widow, in 1780. There is no record of the death of Richard Tindall. However christenings of three children of a Richard and Mary Tindall, Elizabeth,Jane, and Sarah, in 1775, 1788, and 1791 can be found in Great Edstone records. I am interested in any info on this Mary Dodgson and who her descendants are. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Our DODGSON interests in Great Edstone stem from Thomas DODGSON who married Jane SLEIGHTHOLM in Great Edstone in 1698. Thomas was the son of William whose burial took place at Edstone in 1692. Five succesive generations of this family lived in Gt. Edstone through to Hannah DODGSON born in 1808 who married George JACKSON. Hannah's parents and siblings emmigrated to Canada mid 17th centuary.

Died 1851 Great Smeaton, near Northallerton. Was a brick and tile maker. His parents were William and Annos WEATHERALL from Bellerby. Siblings include Thomas, Elizabeth, William, John, Tristram, Catherine. His son was my GG Grandfather John WETHERILL a shoemaker from Northallerton born 1824 died 1900, married Sarah TODD from Brompton near Northallerton in 1845. Thomas Kirby (b May 1820 Helmsley) son of John Kirby and wife Ann (Nancy) Simpson, died 10 Sep 1893 buried in Great Thirkleby churchyard, married Elizabeth Peacock (Sep 1823 Cundal died 13 Feb 1884 Osgoodby), daughter of Francis Peacock (b abt 1793 Helperby) and Mary Thorpe (b abt 1789 Nosterfield) 23 Dec 1845 Kirby Bedale parish church. Son Francis Peacock Kirby (b abt 1858 Osgoodby, Thirkleby) married Eleanor Morton (b 9 Mar 1859 Bagby) early in 1884 in Thirsk. They had two sons born in Bagby: Joseph (b 27 May 1885) and Albert (b about 1890). Family resided at Witham House, Osgoodby and farmed in the area. Left for Huntington after Thomas Kirby died in 1893. Where are John Kirby and wife Ann (Nancy) buried? Any dates for them that are certain? Thomas Kirby had six children: what became of them? (Eldest, Sarah Ann, married Robert Wilkinson.) Where is Witham House? Osgoodby is not a village, more an area near Thirkleby. Are any other Kirbys in the area related?

Henry Watson last traced to Boldron in 1901 and wife Hannah and his eldest son William, born Winston Durham 1882, was living with his Uncle Richard at Greta Bridge.Anyone know what happened to this William born 1882 and twin John and Henry Joseph and their sister Elizabeth all born Winston and other siblings born Croft where grandfather Richard came from - Hurworth area - Richard, Reginald Wilfred, Samuel and Cicely born Romaldkirk . William was a farmer and helped run Greta bridge farm when his uncle Henry died and then his son ALSO William died in 1907. Cicely might have been a teacher in Darlington. None of this family had been found after 1891 census. Any clues would be most welcome.

William and Jane had the following children:- William bap Helmsley PC 30.05.1764 Jane bap Hawnby PC 05.03.1767 Thomas bap Hawnby PC 05.08.1770 Mary Sunley (single woman - and my third great grandmother) was baptised at Hawnby PC 03.07.1773. John Sunley bap Hawnby PC 10.09.1776. John married Mary Fairweather and moved to Cold Kirby where he was a blacksmith. Betty Sunley bap Hawnby PC 26.10.1782 George Sunley bap Hawnby PC 21.04.1786 Robert Sunley bap Hawnby PC 13.05.1787 William's second marriage was to Mary Audaer at Nunnington PC on 04.02.1793. At this point I lose both William and Mary and I would be interested to hear from anyone who might be connected to this tree and can throw light on to what happened to William and Mary.

Seeking information on my ancestor Michael SAYER (bap 1742 Kirk leavington). Michael's parents were James SAYER and Elizabeth WOOD. Michael married Rebekkah BELL (born c. 1741) in Hutton Bonville in November 1777 where they settled and had two known children, Michael (1778) and Thomas (c. 1783?). Michael appears to have left the area before 1793 and moved to Holtby where he appears on the Manor and Court Leet records in 1793 in the lists of tenants. In Sept 1794 he acted as juror there and in October 1794 he was again listed as tenant. Michael appears to have remained there until his death in 1806. His wife Rebeccah was buried in Holtby in 1809. Michael had three brothers - John, James and William (the latter two being millers and farmers who remained in the Middleton on Leven area and died in 1815). James is known to have married Elizabeth SPENCE, and John married a Dorothy HARRISON, while William married Margaret FEETHAM. There were also two sisters - Margaret, and Dorothy who married a John GELDART. There was also a half sister Elizabeth. If you have any information about Michael - his occupation, parentage, siblings, or offspring, I would love to hear from you. I would also like to find more about Rebecca BELL as I have no information about her at all. Thanks

John Prudom lived in Houlsyke in census entry in 1851. He had no son's but majority of his daughters moved to industrial areas in teeside. I have been trying to locate were he lived in Houlsyke.Have been reseraching records but getting confused as he is listed as farmer and then coal miner at 71yrs.Do know mining rights would not have been owned by landowner but lord of Danby area. Wondering if this caused change in occupation. Do know he had six daughters.They were born between 1814 to 1824 and all survived and married. After last recorded census in 1851 no more entries or death recorded in local area.So any ideas were to locate where he lived,why change from Farmer to Miner. If I could locate exact adress in Houlsyke could trace who took over house exactly in 1861 census. Prudom does have a number of spellings so please don't be put off if spelling not exact. Also if mines or surface mines were located near Houlsyke. Any information would help me continue with my research

Marmaduke PEIRSE had son Henry, who had son John (died 1659), who had son Richard (married Mary HUTTON & died circa 1710); their daughter Barbara married John WASTELL of Bolton on Swale. Have a good deal of information on this family.

Seeking information on my ancestor Michael SAYER (bap 1742 Kirk leavington). Michael's parents were James SAYER and Elizabeth WOOD. Michael married Rebekkah BELL (born c. 1741) in Hutton Bonville in November 1777 where they settled and had two known children, Michael (1778) and Thomas (c. 1783?). Michael appears to have left the area before 1793 and moved to Holtby where he appears on the Manor and Court Leet records in 1793 in the lists of tenants. In Sept 1794 he acted as juror there and in October 1794 he was again listed as tenant. Michael appears to have remained there until his death in 1806. His wife Rebeccah was buried in Holtby in 1809. Michael had three brothers - John, James and William (the latter two being millers and farmers who remained in the Middleton on Leven area and died in 1815). James is known to have married Elizabeth SPENCE, and John married a Dorothy HARRISON, while William married Margaret FEETHAM. There were also two sisters - Margaret, and Dorothy who married a John GELDART. There was also a half sister Elizabeth. If you have any information about Michael - his occupation, parentage, siblings, or offspring, I would love to hear from you. I would also like to find more about Rebecca BELL as I have no information about her at all. Thanks

My Gt Gt Gt Gt uncle Samson Medd was born in Wilton and married Ann Armstrong. They had 2 daughters in Wilton before moving to Northumberland. For some reason Ada Hannah Medd was left with Armstrong grandparents in Wilton. Ada Hannah married a William Watson who was a farmers son and had 4 children in Wilton between 1880 and 1890 before they moved to Hutton Buscel. William is shown on census as being a farmer and employing people, but no name of the farm is given. They had another 2 daughters who were born in Hutton Buscel, Emily R Watson 1892 and Sarah J Watson 1894. Any info to further my search would be great.

I would like to find out what happened to one of my greatgrandfather's brothers, Richard Mowbray Pearson, born in 1814. The family farmed at Barwick Farm,(in the parish of Ingleby), from 1795 until 1849, when my greatgrandfather moved away. He was one of 12 children, and I know what happened to all the others, but Richard is a mystery. If the name is familiar to anyone I would like to hear from them. It has been suggested that he went to Leeds, but I can't find him there.

He worked at that time as a gamekeeper, possibly he worked on the estate. What was the estate called? Is it still there? I understand Keldy Castle is now some kind of leisure complex. When she married James she already had a son named John Henry Boyes. My grandfather Thomas Allsop(p) was born 1880 at Kirby Knowle and was James and Mary's 3rd child. OVINGTON - Henry (b1716 in Kirby Sigston) who married an Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) somewhere other than Kirby Sigston. Their only known child was Susanna, born at Whorlton in 1758. Henry's father was another Henry, probably born c1690. The elder Henry had two other children, John (b1719) and Mary (b1723) by an unknown wife.

After Elizabeth's death in childbirth he then married Mary PUNTON 1743 at Kirk Leavington. It is believed James died around 1810 in East Cowton.

He married Susannah (Susan) Joicey in Leeds 17/10/1878 and had three surviving children - marianne (b.1881), Edith (b.1882) and Frederick (b1884 his twin Annie died 1886).
