Holmes of Huttons Ambo
Partly in connection with my previous questionon the Holmes/Bell family,....George Holmes, Chrstnd 1/9/1794 Huttons Ambo, Yorkshire. Can anyone out there please confirm that his parents were William and Elizabeth, and I believe that he had four siblings, (possibly more) William 1783, John 1785, Catherine 1787 and Samuel 1789. I am having a little difficulty with his parents, in so much as the only William/Elizabeth combinations I can find seem not to have married until 1790 and 1798, and that William the father was born in 1750, which makes him a little on the old side to start a family. Have I got the correct family line or am I missing something like an earlier marriage? Can someone please give me a push in the right direction, there are quite a few 'Holmes' in the area and some other genealogy sites seem only to add to the confusion. Thanks. Brian
Holmes/Bell
Looking and hoping for any information on George Holmes, Christnd 1/9/1794 in Huttons Ambo, who later went on to marry a Mary Bell 23/11/1822 in H/Ambo.Also anything on Mary Bell, who I believe was born in Healaugh near Tadcaster in either 1796 or 1798....little bit of confusion with some of the records there. Her parents could have been William and Elizabeth, but may also have been Nathaniel and Ann, there are several members of the Bell family in Healaugh, and I am not too sure which line to follow. The parents of George were also William and Elizabeth. Any help would be appreciated, thanks
