In 1854 William Croft Johnson (1834-1909)married Mary Johnson (1836-1885). William's father was Charles Johnson (born 1811), sometime confectioner and later a railway labourer. His mother was probably Phillis. In 1841 Charles and family were living in Alfred Street, Hull. Mary's parents were John (1811-1854?) and Mary (b 1813) Johnson. In 1851 John was described as a Victualler & Bricklayer living in Alfred Street! Were William and the younger Mary related? Can anyone provide any more information on these Johnsons?

William (b. 1835) and Henry (b. 1837), sons of Robert and Mary, were born in Harford House, Howard Lane, Bradford, Yorkshire, England. The two brothers removed to Brewster, MA USA and then Pawtucket, RI USA I can not find this location or family in Bradford, England. I did find in the 1841 Census a family that resembles this living in Reedness, Whitgift, Yorkshire, England. There were no parents listed as living with this family however along with William and Henry (of the right age) are an older sister Mary age 13 and older brother Robert 12 and a 2 year old sister Ellen. However all the U.S. Census records state that William and Henry were born in Hull.

My maternal great-great grandfather Charles Thompson Hardy married ELIZA SIZER in Hull in 1857 (marriage record confirmed). It is believed in the family that Eliza was related to the Richard Sizer who founded the engineering company of that name in Hull, but I can't confirm it. There seem to have been only two Sizer families in Hull (Sculcoates) in 1851, one of which included a Richard and a William both of whom were "forge men" and therefore likely to be the founders of Richard Sizer Ltd engineers, but there is no Eliza or Elizabeth in the family. Has anyone researched the Richard Sizer family?

His son, Thomas, was married to Sarah Hodge, and they were described as "Seed Crushers" in census documents, believed to be involved in oil seed refinery. Edward Thomas Carey b abt 1876-78 in Hull to Edward and Catherine Carey, married Ellen Valentine Goodall about 1901. Edward died abt 1906 and three sons sent to Canada with Dr. Barnardo's group. Seeking information on exact date and cause of death of Edward. He was a bricklayer employer according to 1901 census. Did Ellen Carey remarry? If so, to whom? Did she have other children? Joseph Figgiss Perrin b Isle of Wight 1823 m. Betsey Whitton at Holy Tinity East Riding in March 1849. His parents were George & Annebella Perrin. On Joseph's death cert, George's occupation is given as "Locker in HM Customs". Joseph and Betsey went to Australia c1852 and lived in Victoria and New south Wales. Joseph's occupations were miner and shipwright. Looking for siblings and ancestors of Joseph and information about their time in Yorkshire.

My grandfather was Charles William Spencer his army records say he was born approx, 1885 in Hull, he had a brother Ben Shaw, we cannot find details of these two guys births, but it is rumoured throughout the family the name was originally Sizer, Charles father on his marriage certificate says Jonathon Spencer railway guard, the closest I can come to this family is Jonathon Sizer railway guard in Doncaster 1881, this family moved to Hull and in the 1891 Census this family show up in Hull but no Jonathon, also in the 1891 census their are a Charles and a Ben,ages approximately right,sent for birth certificates but middle name of Charles doesn't match up, are their any families with these names that can confirm our ancestors.
Beharrell Jackson Sowerby
I now know that by 1851 Martha Beharrell (now 25) had married John Jackson, who was then 35 and a shoemaker near Sykes Street, Hull. By 1861 he is shown as John Sowerby Jackson, with Martha, at 10 Rutland Terr., and they have 4 children of their own, and Charlotte, daughter of Martha, living there.

I am researching my ggrandfather, William Isaac Bonney who was born in Hull in 1860 to Henry Bonney,a mariner/fisherman and Louisa Jane Markcrow.Her parents were William and Ann (Fanny) Markcrow and she was born in Ramsgate,Kent.Louisa died in 1863 and William was brought up by Fanny who by 1871 was living in Grimsby.The Markcrow family were involved in the fishing industry as smack owners and providing finance to fishermen buying smacks.I would like more information on Markcrow family and Henry Bonney- what happened to him after his wife died? In 1861 the Bonneys were living at 21 Edwards Place,Cogan St, Myton,Hull in a house presumed to be owned by a relative of Louisa's.
