red mail Clark family from Great Driffield
My great grandfather, John Sydney Clark was a grocer born in 1883 in Driffield, married a Violet Saltmer after serving in WWI, in 1922. Violet also came from Driffield. The Clark family may have owned or ran the grocer's shop in Driffield called Reeds or Reids. Sydney or Sid (the family had a habit of being known by middle names) had several brothers and sisters: Albert b.1881 I think died young, Amy Betria b.1886, Robert Oswald b.1888, Alfred Stanley b.1890 and Sylvia b.1893. Their parents were Robert Clark, grocer, born 1853 in Kilnwick and Catherine Harrison b. 1852 in Castleford. Any links would be most welcome, as would links with anyone who knew of the family or their shop or service in WWI. Anyone know of their graves in Driffield? I visited once, but couldn't find any.
