Looking for any info re: William ROBERTS b.abt. 1895 London. The 1901 census show ROBERTS Elizabeth 13, William 7, Ethel 6 and Jenny 5 - all born Bethnal Green, and living in an orphanage in London. I think this William was my grandfather and am seeking information about his sisters and parents! According to his marriage certificate his father was Charles ROBERTS, Electrical Engineer who was deceased by 1916! Mother's name unknown but we were led to believe she left them at the orphanage! **There may be a connection with the name Stains/es or possibly the place. William trained on T.S.Exmouth, then joined the army during WW1. He became attached to Kings Liverpool Regiment and met his future wife (my nan)and settled in Bootle, Liverpool after their marriage in 1916. Around mid 1950's, one of his sisters traced him through the Salvation Army and came to Liverpool to see him and my nan. A name sounding like Jean or Jane and Stains(es) was mentioned and I'm wondering if this was Jenny and she'd either married someone named Staines OR lived in Staines?

Son of Moses and Elizabeth (nee Lazarus). Arrived in Melbourne, Australia on the "Essese or Esscre" ex Portsmouth. He was a Dealer Merchant and was disinherited for marrying a Scottish girl, Elizabeth McCauley. Date of death may be slightly incorrect or if the year is correct, would have to have been very near the end of the year as his only son, Lewis, was born 1 Sep 1856. Looking for information on John and his parents (and any siblings), also on Elizabeth who later married a Mr Hewitt and they moved with Lewis to Reefton NZ.
I have an 18th century family bible containing approx 45 manuscript entries of births, deaths and marriages of the Gwyn family commencing with the marriage of Edward Gwyn and Anne Robertson in 1768 and ending with Henry Gwyn who married Matilda Norton and died 1876.
