Edward Samuel Miles married an Englishwoman called Dorothy during WW1. Dorothy worked in the war office in London, and Edward (known as Ted) was a officer in the Australian Army, stationed in Europe. Dorothy was born in England in January 1896 and died in Brisbane Australia in 1985. Edward (Ted) was born on 22nd July 1896 in Queensland, Australia and died 8th October 1983, in Brisbane Australia. I'm trying to find out what Dorothy's maiden name was, and who her family was. Their son Neville was born 26th March 1929, in Australia. I only ever knew them as Uncle Ted and Aunty Dot (though they were my great great Aunt and Uncle) and that Ted fought at Gallipoli with the ANZACs. They had my grandmother in 1906 and I have been told Alice Sophia Saunders died shortly thereafter. My grandmother was taken in by the Bushell family also from East Ham. Born around 1856, Father died when 6yrs, Mother died when 13yrs. Trained in brickmaking. Possibly sailed London to Sydney Australia 1890. Don't know what ship. In New Zealand by 1893. Lived out life in New Zealand as married to Mary Ann SMITH (nee WARD). My Great Grandfather.
