I'm seeking details on where I can acquire knowledge about marriages between GODWIN and SHAYNE surnames. Spec concerning a person I was close with who died recently (Connor Shayne Godwin 3 June 1995-2015). He was adopted and I am trying to trace his biological lineages, which was something I was trying to help him do whilst he was alive. Any help would quite obviously be appreciated. Further to my post about Frederick Abbott, I would like to contact anyone related to Annie E Luce who is noted as 'Head' of house where Frederick and his wife Ida lived at 14, Clarence Rd St Heliers at the time of the 1901 census.

My great grandmother Harriet GILBERT married James BURROWS in 1854 at Horrabridge, Devon. In each census during her life she maintained that her birthplace was JERSEY but, so far, no record of birth or baptism has been located anywhere. From the census returns I have averaged out her birthdate as 1834. Without her birth or baptism records her parentage remains unknown. Can anyone help please?

Who did George bring to Australia. Birth of children b. Australia are recorded with 'Martha Simmons' mother. Philip eldest son of Philip and Ester already in Australia- ship's captain.

My gr grandmother Adeline Wilhelmina Dorothy Truscott was apparently born in Jersey (possibly at Gorey?)in 1849. Her parents were William (Thomas?) Truscott and Adeline (Elizabeth?) Hornbrook. Any info on the Truscott and Hornbrook families there would be appreciated.
Abbott Bradberry Gostenhofer
I am searching for information regarding Frederick Abbott who died 17th June 1901 at Clarence Villa, 14 Clarence Rd, St Heliers. He was survived by his wife Ida Harlington Bradberry OR Ida Harlington Gostenhofer. The last name may be from a previous marriage. The Abbott family were associated with the Bow Brewery in London and Frederick was the founder of our town in New Zealand but disappeared about 1872, only to surface as marrying Ida in Croydon in 1885. An enigma!

I'm looking for any information on Catherine Barry and family. Catherine was born in around 1811, Walworth, to John (1781) and Mary Davison (1791). I have no record of a marriage so far, but know that Catherine had a child, Fanny Catherine Barry, born in around 1839/40 in St Helier, Jersey. In 1841 Catherine went on to marry a John Kinsman, a banker, and have a large family in Manchester. Fanny went on to marry Alfred Lowndes, a tailor and draper, in Manchester cathedral in August 1860. Please get in touch if you know anything related to this family.

Looking for any descendants of John Baxter (boat builder) 1801, born Scotland and his wife, Margaret, 1801, also born Scotland. They must have moved to Jersy between 1822 and 1827 as the eldest child, Jane is born in Scotland 1821 and the 2nd child, John born Jersey 1827. Also Margaret 1828, Douglas 1830, Robert 1834, and Elizabeth 1838. Robert 1834 is my great ,great grandfather and re-appears in London in 1868 when he marries Frances Pearce of Westminster. She went on to have seven boys, Douglas John being the eldest born in 1869. He was my great grandfather and married Rosanna Davis in 1888. With all these siblings over a couple of generations, I have yet to make contact with a living relative! As a P.S. Rosanna Davis' mother was Mary Ann Habgood (1842) and is part of an extensive Family from Latton, Wiltshire.

Louis Girard (aged 46) and presumbly his son Emile (aged 21), arrived in Australia in 1853. They were described in the Kooh I Noor's manifest as English gentlemen accommodated in the chief cabin (not cheap!!). They had departed London on 23 Oct. 1852 and Liverpool on 9 Nov. 1852 arriving in Melbourne, Australia on 14 Feb. 1853. They are a possible connection with my great grandfather Charles (Edward Louis )Girard a shepherd in South Australia. He married at Ulooloo in 1869, aged 36, thus born say 1833. Who can help. Please?
