William Minty
William MINTY, born Ireland 1813, married Emily LINDEN 1848 in Bangor Ireland. William and family lived on and off in Millport. Two sons were born in Millport in 1860 and 1863. William died in Millport in 1898. His daughter, Frances (Fanny) died in Millport in 1899. In addition, William's wife Emily and a son, William Angus, may have been buried in Millport. I'm looking for a grave site. Likely in the graveyard of the C of E, but possibly in the graveyard of the Church of Scotland. Not sure if they were Anglican or Presbyterian. Would anyone have information ie stone transcript or photos? Thanks, Mary

red mail Stewart - Wee Cumbrae
I am looking for any information about my GGF, Alexander Stewart. The only information I have is that he was an assistant lighthouse keeper on the Wee Cumbrae from 1908-1909. I have tried the records of the Clyde Lighthouse Trust at the Mitchell Library but they do not have them for that time period. I think his wife and numerous children probably lived in Millport, but I do not know her name or where they/she came from.
red mail Ruth Johnston b. abt 1894
Ruth was born to Thomas (b. abt 1865) Johnston and Helen Campbell (b. abt 1870). Ruth married Peter Crichton (b. September 17th, 1890) on July 27th, 1917, at Langside, Glasgow. Ruth's mother, Helen Johnston (nee Campbell) lived in Millport. Crichton connection well documented; seeking information on Ruth (my grandmother) and her family. Thanks, James
red mail Crichton - Johnston
Seeking information re my grandmother, Ruth Crichton nee Johnston, last known to be living in Millport during the early 1950s. Ruth was married to Peter Crichton of Glasgow, Scotland; Durban and Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Their son, before they separated, was my father, Gordon Stuart Crichton, b.1919, who spent some time with his mother, sister and grandmother Johnston in Millport before spending the remainder of his childhood in Port Elizabeth. He served in the Royal Navy on an armed merchant cruiser during World War II and spent much of his adult life in the South African Navy. Gordon lost contact with his mother and sister in Scotland during the 1950s when he was in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) following his separation from my mother, Jill Crichton nee Jennings. Any assistance gratefully appreciated as I shall be visiting Millport later this year and wish to visit my grandmother's last resting place.
