Besants from Netheravon, am trying to trace Edward & Jane Besant believed to have married in 1884, their 3rd child Mary was born in Pewsey, and christened in Netheravon in June 1889, they appeared to have moved around this area quite a lot , other children were George, sarah, Dora, and Annie.

Can any one offer more information on the riding school - presumably. I am researching the Carter family who ran the village store and had connections with the school. My great grandfather was a harness maker and saddler and to my knowledge lost one son in WW1, who had been employed as a groom there, and then joined the Royal Field Artillery. Is there a possibility someone could also tell me what the local paper would have been at the time of WW1 for this area? Does the area have a local FHS at all?

George and John Dyke married 2 Newman sisters Mary and Elizabeth in the early 1820's; Charlotte married John Musselwhite from Downton in Wilts at Gt Durnford 20th June 1825 and they had 6 children; Ann born Woodford 20 Oct 1825; Frances born St Edmunds Salisbury 7 Sept 1829; Eliza born St Edmunds 29 Feb 1832; Charles 29 July 1834 St E; Charlotte born 1835 St E;Louisa bapt 20 July 1837 St E. Mary Dyke married William Chandler 30th Dec 1835 at Gt Durnford and they had one child Sarah Ann Chandler born 21 May 1837 at Netton. Looking for information about Hannah Brown, married to Robert Brown, They live in Wotton Under Edge, Gloucestershire and a son Edward was born in 1815. They moved to Littleton Drew, Wiltshire where William, Daniel, Martha and Ellen were born. Robert was convicted of Murder and sentenced to be hanged Friday July 25, 1828 in front of the Fisherton Goal. Hannah was subject to removal orders April 2 1830 from Littleton Drew to Wotton Under Edge but was appealed, then on December 1, 1830 from Littleton Drew to Oaksey. I find no marriage record, so don't know Hannah's maiden name. date or place of birth. I find nothing about her after the removal to Oaksey. William is my g,g, grandfather and I have records of him since his marriage to Elizabeth Arnold in 1845 at Lydiard Millicent Parish and their home in Westport St Mary Parish until they left for USA in 1853. Any help on places to search would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching the family and ancestry of Charles Hall (b. 1761) and Mary (Reynolds) b. 1761 of Wilts. They were married as sojourners at St. Mary's Church in Devizes in 1787. By late 1787 they were living in Oare, Wilts, where Charles worked as Gardener for Reverend Maurice Hiller Goodman at Oare House. Anyone who might be able to provide clues as to the ancestry of either Charles Hall or Mary Reynolds, please contact me. Charles died in 1845 at Savernake Park under the care of his youngest daughter. His children were as follows: 1. Mary Ann Hall b. 1785 Devizes. married John Matthews and lived in Oare. 2. Sarah Hall b. 1787 Oare. Married (Unknown) Grandfield. She and her family moved to St. James Abbey, Bath. 3. Jane Hall b. 1789 Oare. Married John Culley. Lived in Marlborough. 4. James Hall b. 1791 Oare. Married Sarah Field. Moved to Newington Butts/West Hackney, Middlesex, then later retired to Fisherton Anger, Wiltshire. James was a money lender. 5. Charles John Hall b. 1793 Oare. Married Elizabeth Lambert. Moved to Kensington, Middlesex in 1817, and later to Northfleet, Kent in 1822. Worked as a Brick Maker. 6. John Hall b. 1795 Oare. Died after 1845. Nothing further is known. 7. Tabitha Hall b. 1797 Oare. Died 1837 Oare. 8. Thomas and William Hall (twins) b. 1800 Oare. Both died before 1845. 9. Priscilla Hall b. 1804 Oare. Married John Pye. They lived in Overton Heath where he worked as a farmer.
