red mail FRANK GEORGE YOUNG
Tracing great great grandfather--born in Feltham Feltham Hello I am doing a family tree and would appreciate some information. I live in San Francisco. Everything I have heard about my great great grandfather has been through word of mouth and no facts. I have been told that FRANK GEORGE YOUNG--the man in question faught in the zulu wars. I looked at the Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift roll calls and do not find his name. I found his estate in the national archives of South Africa in Pietermaritzburg. His death certificate states that he died in 1935 at the age of 77. His country of birth: England. How he got there I don't know. He was a dairy farmer with many cattle. When I subtract 77 from 1935 I get 1858 which would be the year he was born. I checked the national sencors in England and found 2 matched the name. 1. FRANK GEORGE YOUNG born in Feltham, Middlesex abt 1858. He was dairyman and registered at Croydon; Civil Parish: Croydon; County or Island: Surrey in 1881 censors. He would have been 23 years old then. 2. FRANK GEORGE YOUNG born in Adesdiston, Wiltshire abt 1858. Civil Parish: Aldershot; County or Island: hampshire; Registration District: farnham. He was a Soldier Driver R H A. When I search the British National Archives I see that the Royal Artillery from Wiltshire did fight in the Zulu wars. I am trying to trace if 1. FRANK GEORGE YOUNG of the Feltham, Middlesex or 2. FRANK GEORGE YOUNG of Ahesdiston, Wiltshire fought in South Africa in 1878 - 1890. I would like to know which one went to South Africa. Please help. Thank you Sincerely, James

red mail Minty......Corsley, Westbury, Chapmanslade, Frome, Bedwellty, Gwent
I am currently trying to research my family tree, but have hit a hurdle when it comes to going beyond the 1800's. The relations that I have researched are too extensive to add in this message, but John, Alfred, Thomas and William were certainly common names!! If anyone out there thinks they can help me,I would greatly appreciate it... (alternatively, maybe I could help someone out there fill in some gaps in their tree)!! The majority of them hailed from Wiltshire, but I am aware that a strain of my family moved to Frome in Somerset, and also to the Bedwellty, Wales area (probably to work down the pits)!! The occupation of the majority of my ancestors centred around agriculture, but I believe there were minors, servants and cabinet makers thrown in for good measure!
