On 5th May1813 Frederick Edwin FRANKLIN was bapt. at Purton, the son of James & Martha (nee MARTIN) FRANKLIN. In 1841 he married Eliza LAMB, and they had a daughter and two sons before they emigrated to Adelaide, South Australia in 1850 on the "Princess Helena" In Adelaide he was employed as a draughtsman and engraver, and there was an extensive obituary published in the newsparer following his death in 1894. We have an 1867 map of the village of Angaston in the Barossa Valley, executed by Frederick Edwin FRANKLIN and signed by him.. He has a number of descendants in South Australia. KJI
red mail Reids Piece, Purton
I am looking for the family living at Reids Piece, possibly at No 24, in the early 1960's and possibly before. The surname may have been Reece or Preece or Pearce, a son Roy Ash ( DOB 13.2.1953)was originally fostered and then adopted by this family. I believe there may not have been any other siblings. I also believe that it was possibly an elderly couple who were active members of the local church. I am very anxious to discover anybody who remembers Roy, a very polite formal young boy who wore glasses, may have had a slight speech defect and had a degree of learning disability. He may or may not have attended the village school or may have had additional educational help elsewhere. Do you remember Roy ? I am very anxious to ascertain his well being and welfare but I do not want to intrude on his life, can you help me please? Monica.
