John ROBERTS
The name JOHN ROBERTS is on the WW1 memorials in St Nicholas Church and the Baptist Church. Wiltshire Soldiers connects John Strathern Roberts to this (and Great Chalfield) but I have not found his connection with North Bradley. There were a number of ROBERTS families in North Bradley in 1841 and 1851, but they seem to have mostly moved to Trowbridge - there were no families of that name by 1911. There could be a married woman whose maiden name was Roberts, of course. If anyone knows of a John ROBERTS connected with North Bradley, of the right age group to have served in WW1, please make contact.
Looking for WW1 fallen of the Parish
I am researching the men of the parish who gave their lives in WW1, whether commemorated on the memorials in the parish or not. What I find is being entered on the permanent digital memorial run by the Imperial War Museum, called Lives of the First World War. There are 26 men included in the Community 'Parish of North Bradley' there, although I now think Edwin FORD is 'our' man, not Edward. Two men, James PHILLIPS and John J ALLEN, both named on the memorial, are not yet included on LoFWW, as I have not yet been able to pin down which of the many possibles they are - I would be especially grateful for any assistance with these. Bridget
