Harris/Priest family of Martin
Seeking details of family of Ann Harris/Elias Priest married at Martin in 1855. Her father was Titus Harris, his Henry Priest. Any information gratefully received.
red mail Beach Family
I'm interested in discovering the history of the Beach family, an apparently large family of farm laborers from Martin, Tidpit Martin and Damerham. Some family members had moved to Salisbury by the time of the 1881 Census, William Beach, for example. Others at that time, namely Joseph Beach, his brother Thomas and father Henery, still lived in Martin. I have no information on this family beyond the 1901 Census - what happened to them, where did they go, how many are still left in Martin?
red mail SHERING/HARVEY

red mail Flemington Titford

FRANCIS, HAYTER, CASE, SMART, WHITE
Seeking connections with my ancestors in SE Wiltshire, including the village of Martin. Before 1874 Martin was in Wiltshire but in that year Local Government changes put it in Hampshire. My 3 x Great Grandfather Thomas FRANCIS, (born Wishford, Wilts 1779), married Harriet (nee Hayter), and they had five sons: Richard, (b.Martin 1807), Thomas, (b.Stratford Tony, 1809), my Great Great Grandfather George, (b.Martin 1812), and twins William and James, (b. Martin 1818). George, (1812), married Eliza CASE, (b.Damerham, Wiltshire 1812) and they had 6 children: Joseph 1832; William 1834; my Great Grandfather George 1839, Mary Ann (or Marianne) 1844; Nancy 1847 and Charles 1850. George, (1839), married twice, first wife was Jane and his second wife was my Great Grandmother Lilly Lora, nee SMART, (b.Fonthill Gifford 1869). (Yes there was a 30 years age difference). Lilly was the daughter of Charles SMART, (b.Fonthill Gifford 1825) and his wife Louisa, nee WHITE, (b.Hindon, Wilts 1827). George and Lily's son Charles George FRANCIS was my Grandfather and he was born in Alvediston in 1890. In WW1, Charles George was Killed In Action in the Second Battle of Ypres and is buried in Poperinge, Belgium. I would be grateful for any information on any of these families.
Lawes Family
I am related to William Lawes brother of James Lawes and have been researching the family for some years.
red mail Lawes Family
James Lawes of Martin is said to be the shepherd portrayed as "Caleb Bawcombe" in WH Hudson's book "A Shepherd's Life". His parents were William Lawes (b. ca1800) and Mary (b. ca1804) also of Martin. James married Emma Agatha Bush and had sons Joseph Frank (b. 10 September 1860 in Upton Lovell), James, Albert and possibly other children. I have information about Joseph Frank's descendants. Seeking info about other branches of the family.
