Imber Wiltshire
The village of Imber no longer exists. In 1943 the War Office told the residents that the village was being requisitioned and gave them only a few weeks to pack up and move. The Ministry of Defence allow visits to the ruins of the former village on a few days of the year.

I have a line of POTTERS in my family tree that I have back to the 1700s.I have found some good records for Imber but the marriage information pre1800 seems very sketchy or non-existent.Can anyone help me,please? Mike in Adelaide,Oz.
Potter John born 1831
John Potter was born in 1831 and christained in St Giles church Imber Wiltshire. Mother was Rosanna Carter who was born in imber in 1805 and died in 1829 and buried at the church .Unsure the name of her husband only that he had to be Potter.
