Howard/Edwards families Wiltshire
I previously posted an entry regarding Tabitha HOWARD who was born in Bradford on Avon in about 1818. On her marriage certificate she gives her maiden name as HOWARD and her father as William EDWARDS, occupation: cordwainer. She married a Thomas Edwards (no relation) in London in 1841. I couldn't find either a William Edwards, or a William Howard, in Bradford on Avon and Tabitha's birth doesn't seem to have been recorded either. I have recently discovered that "Tabitha" was originally christened Edith Edwards Howard. She was the daughter of Mary Ann Edwards and William Howard. (Edith was her maternal grandmother's name). In the 19th century the Howard and the Edwards families lived in the area around Lydiard St Millicent.

red mail William Gilbert/Guilbert d. 1860 m Ann Mead d 1855
William Gilbert (b 1800) son William Gilbert arrived in NZ in 1835 via New York where he stayed with his brother. I believe William Gilbert/Guilbert and Ann had several children other than William they are George, Charlotte, Eli, Samuel and George plus an older unknown brother. Does any one know or descend from these children or are members of Ann Mead's family. Ann was born in Itford, Somerset. Wm & Ann died in Bradford on Avon. The family lived in various locations in Wiltshire, including Trowbridge, Freshford and Walcot, Charterhouse Hinton, Freshford, Somerset
Munday - Westwood, Wiltshire
I am wondering whether there is a connection between the Munday's from Westwood and the Munday's in Wiltshire. My ancestor was Hannah Munday who married Richard Allen in 1823. Hannah died at Hinton Charterhouse in 1836, the same year that Richard married Eliza Swift.
Researching (from Australia) my EDWARDS, EACOT, STEVENS and HULBERT ancestors in BRADFORD ON AVON, Wiltshire, and seem to have hit an impasse via internet. I really am looking for ancestors from, say, 1725 to 1730, as: Francis Edwards (d. circa 1750) and his wife Elizabeth nee Hulbert seemed to have moved to Bradford on Avon after their marriage and the birth of their eldest daughter Hannah, and were there in time to baptise their first son, George, in 1729, who married (1751, Bradford on Avon) Elizabeth nee STEVENS (bapt.1728 at Bradford on Avon). George and Elizabeth Edward's son Thomas (bapt.1754) was the father of my convict ancestor, Thomas Eacot EDWARDS (b.1792). Elizabeth nee EACOT (bapt.1754) married Thomas the Elder at Chippenham 1779. Thomas the Younger was tried and convicted at Somerset QS and transported to Australia for life for stealing an end of cloth after his parents wool cloth manufacturing business in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire, went bankrupt in 1817. Thomas Eacot Edwards departed England on ''Lady Castlereagh'' 22 December 1817, under Captain Weltden. Surgeon Superintendent Dr. Craig RN. With 300 male prisoners all in excellent health under a military guard consisting of a detachment of 34th, 46th and 48 regts under orders of Lieut. Brotheridge of the 48th and Ensign Lax of 34th, and arrived Port Jackson (Sydney) 30 April 1818. If anyone knows more about the parents of these families, I would greatly appreciate feedback. Who knows - maybe this message will help another relation to fill in their family tree! Regards, Michele

The Milsom family were blacksmiths, iron founders and agricultural engineers at Bradford-on-Avon during the 19th century. His son Charles Huntley Milsom carried on the business, moving to a site in Trowbridge Road, Bradford-on-Avon. Charles died in 1860 leaving the business to his son George. George had retiredby 1897 and after retirement in Bradford-on-Avon died in a Bath nursing home 1919. The Trowbridge Road foundry was operated by the Uncles family well into the 20th century.
