I am interested in Lydia Maling from Knowle who is my 3 x great grandmother. She was baptised as Lide Mains on 10 September 1775 at Knowle, Warwickshire (daughter of William and Mary). Three younger siblings - Mary, John and Ann Maling - were also baptised at Knowle. Lydia had 3 illegitimate children baptised at Knowle, 1.Lydia Maling bp 18 Sep 1796, 2.Elizabeth Malings bp 10 May 1801, 3.Anne Malin bp 14 Nov 1802. Lydia and two daughters - Elizabeth and Anne - moved to Oxford City sometime before about 1812. The third daughter Lydia remained in the Knowle area and herself had an illegitimate child, Amy Maling bp at Solihull on 3 April 1815. Elizabeth and Anne, the two daughters who went to Oxford City with Lydia, married Bossom brothers. Elizabeth married William Bossom in 1825 and Anne married John Bossom in 1824, both at St Thomas, Oxford City. Lydia later married William Williams on 25 December 1828 also at St Thomas, Oxford City. I am keen to hear from anyone connected to this family (note - the Maling name is spelt in a variety of ways). I have a lot more information which I am happy to share.

Seeking information concerning William and Mary Pestridge. He was buried in Knowle on 16 May 1809, birth year abt 1746. I do not know where William is from or the names of his parents. The couple's first child, Sarah, was born in 1772 in Knowle. I descend from their fifth child, James, born 1786 in Knowle.

Family legend has it that Harriet More Harrison (nee Reach) was murdered ca. 1882-1885. Can find no death record. The family lived at "The Uplands" in Knowle, Warwickshire. Husband William Lomas Harrison moved six children to Canada in 1885. A three year old child (Hilda Lomas Harrison) was left behind. What happened to Harriet and why was the baby abandoned???

I'm looking for relatives for the following families - William ALLEN, born ABT 1790 in Preston Bagot and died on 9/8/1876 in Knowle. Appolonia PHILLIPS ALLEN born ABT 1802 in Sibford and died on 11/3/1878 in Knowle. William ALLEN married Appolonia PHILLIPS on 6/29/1836 at St. Martin, Birmingham. William ALLEN married his first wife Charlotte MATTHEWS on 6/26/1826. They had one son Charles ALLEN (born ABT 1828 and died 1859), a daughter Maria ALLEN SAVAGE born in 1831, twin daughters Hannah (died in 1835) and Harriet ALLEN born in 1833. Charles ALLEN married Anne KIRBY on 9/18/1852 in Hampton in Arden. Charles and Anne had three children Charlotte (born 1853), William (born 1856 and died in 1858), and Ann (born 1859). Maria ALLEN SAVAGE married William SAVAGE and had 5 children Mary (born and died 1857), Sarah Hannah (born 1861), Ellen (born 1864), William Thomas (born 1867 and died in 1870) and Arthur (born 1874). Sarah Hannah SAVAGE married William LOWE and had 6 children William Henry (born 1878), Ellen Maria (born 1881), Dennis Levi (born 1883), Sidney Thomas (born 1889), Sarah Jane (born 1891), and Annie (born 1893). All of them were born in Balsall. Ellen Maria LOWE married George or Josiah BOTT in 1908. Arthur SAVAGE married Mary ELizabeth PASSMORE PENNY on 5/29/1905 in Temple Balsall. William ALLEN and his second wife Appolonia PHILLIPS ALLEN had two children. Henry ALLEN born on 7/28/1837 in Knowle and died 1/29/1865. Hannah ALLEN born on 5/2/1840 in Norton's Green, Knowle. Hannah ALLEN married Martin RILEY (born in Ireland about 1844 son of James RILEY) on 10/26/1867 at the Canterbury Erdington Aston. The witnesses were Martin and Sarah BIRD. Hannah and Martin RILEY had three children - William James RILEY born 1/30/1868 in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield. Mary RILEY born 10/21/1870 in Oscott, Sutton Coldfield. Elizabeth RILEY born 9/28/1873 in Knowle. Census Information - 1841 - William, Appolonia, Maria, Henry, and Hannah ALLEN are living in Norton's Green, Knowle. 1851 - William, Appolonia, Henry and Hannah ALLEN are living in Knowle, Solihull with two lodgers named Thomas Hicks and Joseph Horton. 1871 - William and Appolonia ALLEN are living in Norton's Green with a granddaughter named Ann ALLEN age 12 and a grandson named William RILEY age 3. 1871 - Martin, Hannah and Mary RILEY are living in Sutton Coldfield. 1871 - Martin and Sarah BIRD and a niece named Elizabeth ALLEN age 11 are living in Sutton Coldfield. In 1880, Martin and Hannah RILEY went to America with the Irish Catholic Colonization Organization. They settled in Adrian, Nobles County, Minnesota. Hannah ALLEN RILEY died in 1881 and Martin RILEY was murdered in 1884 by his son William James RILEY.

Researching the Hunt family of Aston Cantlow. Issac Hunt,b.1784 in Aston Cantlow, married Mary Pestridge, b. 1790 in Knowle, at Hampton-in-Arden in 1810. I can find no trace of the Pestridge family before Mary's birth. Who were her parents?? The surname Pestridge seems comparatively rare - where did it originate?
