Looking for information about my grandmother Nellie, born 1886?/died 1963 at 84 Arlington Road, Warstock, Birmingham 14, whose maiden name was either AMOS or BROWN, and who married Arthur Rathbone 12/7/1908 at St Saviours Church, Saltley Parish, Birmingham. It is unclear whether Nellie was the daughter of Solomon AMOS and Leah (ne Brown), or Harry Brown and Leah (ne Brown). If the former, she had brothers Joseph, Solomon, Samuel, Harry, and sisters Elsie, Florrie, Leah and Elise. The only birth certificate I have found for a Nellie Brown born in Birmingham in 1886 is for a Nelly Brown, daughter of Samuel Brown and Sarah (ne Fisher) but I do not think this is the same Nellie Brown I am looking for. Oral history says my Nellie Amos/Brown may have been born illegitimate and was brought up by a 'Granny Brown' - this person may have been a Leah Brown (ne Barlow), wife of Samuel Brown, or it may not!

Their grandson, Edward Payne PAVIOUR b 1849 Birmingham, emigrated to the antipodes in 1862 and at the age of 13 signed on with the 1st Waikato Regiment in Melbourne, to go to war in New Zealand. 1863-1867 he was with the Regiment and earned his New Zealand medal.

I'm looking for information on Joseph Doyle who married Sophia Mears in the Jan/Feb/Mar quarter of 1842 in Birmingham. They had a daughter Mary Ann Bradburn Doyle who married Thomas William Lapworth in 1869, but who died in childbirth (as did their son William) in 1873. Thomas then married Fanny Smith in 1875. Any info on any of these people would probably help me break through one of my major brick walls! (The Bradburn in Mary Ann's name was after Sophia's first husband, Richard Bradburn.)

I am looking for information on Charles Gray b. abt 1794 in Staffordshire, Henry Gray b.1821, Walsall, Charles Gray b. 1879, Mary Gray, b. 1883 and William Edwin Gray b. 1884 in Birmingham. Their father was Charles Gray b. 1853, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire their mother was Rose Hannah Elsmore. Charles (Snr) and William were known to be decorators in Grangetown, Cardiff according to the 1901 census. Mary was also included in the Cardiff household in the 1901 census. Charles (Snr) returned to Birmingham in the early 1900's. Any information on this family would be much appreciated.
