Hi. I am a descendent of Penelope Halfpenny and Robert Jones to my knowledge, only had two daughters. The daughters were Marg Jones and Penelope Jones. Penelope Jones married Thomas Woolley about 1788 in Birmingham, Warws, England. Penelope Jones also died in the same location. Her descendents later moved to the United States. I am looking for information regarding my ancestors the Devereux family from Birmingham. Thomas Devereux was born in 1800 in Handsworth. He was a basket maker as was his son William who married Emma Vincent. This William, my great great grandfather was also a music teacher on the 1881 census. His son, another William, was a scrap paper dealer in Birmingham and he married Blanche Mallen who had grown up on a farm outside Bromsgrove. They had two sons William and George and several daughters. Their son George, my grandfather, was born in 1893 and killed at the Somme in 1916. My mother Elsie May Devereux was born a few months earlier in 1916. Any information on this family would be appreciated.

George White from Worcester "married" Harriet Crumpton in the early 1870's and they had children George, William, Annie and Edith. George worked as a labourer. They were living in Wolverley in 1881 and 1891 and then moved to Birmingham where George worked as a drayman. They had a grandchild Elsie May and Harriet's nephew Henry William Crumpton also lived with them.

He was brought up by a Captain Hooper, he at some stage moved to Preston, Lancashire and married Ellen Davis on 20th Feb 1897, the marriage certificate has a line through the space for his father. I know he was in the army with the Loyal North Lancs regiment. The only other information I have is a book that belonged to him and was presented to him at Sunday School, Wesleyan church, Birmingham at the age of 11.

However, I cannot find any trace of Charles father. My Great, Great Grandfather was Emmaual Newey who married Elizabth Evans in 1854 in Birmingham. He had two sons William born 1857 and Henry 1861. His daughter Selina born 1855 married my Great Grandfather Arthur Blackwell in 1880. I have been unable to find out any conclusive information on either William or Henry. Therefore, would be grateful if anyone has any information relating to William or Henry or any other member of the Newey family or Evans family.

I am looking for information on the parents of SARAH NEVILL, baptised in St Philips Church, Birmingham on 25th March 1799. At the moment I have been unable to trace a copy of the baptismal register, which may have been damaged or be too fragile to photograph for microfiche. There are a number of other Nevills with baptismal records at St Philip's from 1788-1809, and at least three different sets of parents. It is possible that all these Nevills are related in some way, as the surname appears in its less usual spelling. If anyone has some concrete information on Sarah Nevill's parents, please let me know! Sarah Nevill was my 3x great-grandmother.

Can any one out there! who can help me in finding the birth-place & any families of a John Osborne born some time between 1779 - 1791 some where in Warwickshire, John Osborne enlisted in the St Helena Artillery (East India Company) 0n the Island of St Helena,he sailed on the ship called the " Travers " he arrived on the Island of St Helena, in 1804. He is down as a Gunner. He died on the 26th July 1855 age 68(?) In the information I have his birth place is down has Warwickshire! can any one help please. I believe Louisa's maiden name was DAVIS and she was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (WARNER) Davis. I believe the couple was married 29 Dec 1856 in St. Phillips, Birmingham. I am researching the family of James and Catherine LOWE, found in the 1851 census. I have traced them through each census, up to 1891. From the Free BMD, I found an entry for a James LOWE and Catherine DAVIES, married 1843 Birmingham. I believe Catherine LOWE was Catherine Ann Hale DAVIS, daughter of Joseph DAVIS and Elizabeth WARNER and christened 31 Jul 1825 in Slimbridge, Gloucestershire. Through the census, I have found the following children: Elizabeth, abt. 1844 Joseph, abt. 1846 George, abt. 1848 Jane, abt. 1852 Henry, abt. 1854 James, abt. 1856 Arthur, abt. 1859 Alice or Kate, abt. 1861 Edith, abt. 1864 Daniel, abt. 1867 All of the children were born in Birmingham. James LOWE's occupation was "Gun Finisher". James LOWE died in 1869, Birmingham. I would like to correspond with anyone researching this family.

William Burley born in Birmingham in 1837 to Richard & Anne Burley. No record of a marriage. He started a Carriage Lamp business,"Howes & Burley" on Bishop St. His niece Emma Burley(b 1868)& nephew, John Burley(b 1870) came to live with William after their parents died. John may have worked at his uncle's business. Does anyone have information about the business or family members?

I am seeking information on Amy Powell born 1858ish (nee Green)lived before and after her marriage at Cheapside. She married Joseph Green when she was 18 but died following an abortion at 25. She had 2 daughters Amy Alice and Elizabeth Sophia. I cannot find her before the 1881 census; either with her father George Powell, and her mother is as yet unknown. I cannot obtain a birth certificate but have wedding, 1 childs (Elizabeth Sophia my gg grandma)birth certificate and her death certificate. Can anybody claim a line to George or have any other Powell information. George was a Brass burnisher.

They had at least 6 children between 1856 and 1869 including John (born Birmingham 24 Aug 1861). William's father, George Lewis, is recorded as a 'blacksmith' on son's William marriage certificate. 1861 Census for the family records George 'born Swansea, Wales'. Ive just discovered that one of my ancestors was probably a Sarjeant not spelt with a G as previously thought. She was Elizabeth Sarjeant married to John Deag and her wedding cert states a Samuel Sarjeant and a Lydia Sarjeant who I believe were her brother and sister in law. The wedding took place in 1813 so would love to hear of anyone else who has Sarjeant links in Birmingham around that time.
