LIZZIE ANN WILSON

WILLIAM CORNOCK
William Cornock (born 1855) was the son of William Cornock (born 1832 in Coleshill and baptised in Leicester). William senior's married life was a bit of a tangle. He married Hannah Disley in 1866 but then abandoned both her and his children - William junior and his siblings lived with their step-mother and her new partner who called themselves man and wife - this was Hannah and Joseph Williams; at least according to the census of 1871 which says that the children were Hannah's 'by marriage'. William junior appears to have married in 1873; his bride was Martha Blick and the wedding took place in Christ Church, Sparkbrook. After that event I can find no trace of them. Can anyone track them down - I would very much appreciate any clues. Thanks! Chris

Can anyone tell me about the family of my g/g grandparents, William Moss (1835-1914) and his wife Louisa Banks (1833-1918) please. Louisa was born in Staffordshire but I believe they spent most of their married life in Birmingham. In the 1881 they were in Aston and by 1911 in Sparkbrook. I understand that Ramsay lived with Kate Hiley for many years in Cheshire but they couldn't marry as she was already married to someone else. Thank you.
red mail Gladys Regina Lewis Whitehouse
My maternal grandmother born 12 Sept 1911 was illegitimate. No father is named on her birth certificate though the odd middle name suggest he may have been a Lewis. Although it is believed both the father and his family tried to have some involvement in her life my grandmother would never talk of it and destroyed all her own mothers papers including correspondence with the father after her death. She took whatever knowledge she had with her to her grave. Her mother Mary Whitehouse is on the 1911 census at 49 Whitehall Rd Small Heath Birmingham with her mother Sarah and brother Charles I can find no other record of my grandmother apart from the GRO indexes for her birth and marriage in 1937. Are there school or baptismal records available for that part of Birmingham that might enable me to fill in the blanks in her life and perhaps find my elusive great grandfather? Any help much appreciated Regards P

red mail Ann E Arrowsmith(nee Deathridge)
Ann was born in 1942, she married John L Arrowsmith in 1960, I dont know whether John died or whether the marriage broke down, I can't seem to find any records of either. However, Ann did make a second marriage, to a man who's first name was Terry(probably Terrence), but I cannot find a record of the second marriage. There does not seem to be any record of any children of the Arrowsmith marriage...so did Ann and Terry have children. What I do know is that Ann and her husband became Jehovahs Witnesses. Any help would be appreciated.

red mail John Davis
John Davis born abt 1835 in Birmingham, a gun finisher,Married Mary Ann "Annie" who was born abt 1840, they had I believe 8 children the earliest Catherine born 1859, so I am assuming I should find a marriage record around 1858. I have him on census from 1961-1901. I have a burial record stating he died 23 april 1920 which I think is correct. I would like to go a bit further back and I think I need to purchase either marriage certificate which would give me his father and Mary Ann's surname (so I can go back a bit further for her too) but I cannot find the record - alternatively I could get his birth certificate but there are about 4 possibilities, without these bits of key information I don't know where to turn - I have looked at the 1951 census and I just cannot confirm which one is definitely my John Davis - I would love someone with a bit more experience to try and help me. thanks

red mail Alice Ethel Gould
I'm posting this for a friend - who is having trouble - this is the little we know she was born around 1914. Father Arthur Stanley Gould born 1891, mother Eleanor Whitehouse borne 1889. Can anyone spare us a little time to have a look and see if they can find Alice - in the family she was known as Ethel but on her daughters marriage certificate she is shown as Alice Ethel Gould - so we think she reverted back to her maiden name. Happy to buy birth certificate to confirm parents but cant find an exact date of birth - thanks

red mail Wheelers of Birmingham
I am researching the family of Joseph WHEELER, a coach builder born c1781 and shown in the 1841 and 1851 censuses living at 47 Constitution Hill, Birmingham. His birthplace is uncertain: the 1851 Census suggests Shropshire (looks like Up Hearn or Tearn??), but 1861 suggests Worcestershire 'Niten' - hence perhaps Knighton-on-Teme, on border between Worcestershire and Shropshire, or Eaton upon Tern, Shropshire, which is near the A41 road which runs into Wednesbury. This might explain how Joseph came to Birmingham (daughters Sarah and Mary Ann were baptised at Wednesbury). Anyone got any ideas? In 1829 he married Ann FIELDHOUSE at St Martins Church, but this would make him 48 at the time, so it seems likely he was married earlier but, if so, to whom? Records of a Joseph Wheeler and Sarah of Wednesbury do not relate to my Joseph - that other Joseph is shown in the 1841 census living in Bridge Street, Wednesbury, with a his sons living nearby. But two of his sons were named Moses and Aaron, and my Joseph also had a son named Noah which suggests the family may be connected. Any help would be much appreciated.

red mail Heeley family
Hi, my gt grandmother, Elizabeth Heeley was borne 28 Sept 1875 in St George Birmingham, county Warwick. She married Joseph Davis 26 April 1896 - I have obtained copies of both her birth certificate and marriage certificate - Both state her Father is Frederick Heeley, the marriage certificate says he was a "stripeaster" the birth certificate I think "Pear or maybe Peal" worker (maybe pearl). The writing is hard going on both certificates!! The Birth certificate lists her Mother as Elizabeth Heeley formerly Crew (Crew may be Drew, but think Crew) She was registered as being borne in 22 St George Street. Now I'm stuck, searching the census all I can find is 1881 Frederick being born abt 1835 married Eliza, job pearl cutter jeweller but there's no mention of child Elizabeth who would have only been about 6. I can then find an 1891 census with Frederick and Elizabeth with child of Lizzie (16) but they are living in London. Now I'm very baffled - any suggestions, am I missing something. What I really want to do is find the family Frederick and Elizabeth and my gt grandmother on a census somewhere perhaps with siblings - Could any of what I found be correct, and how/where do I cross check it. Can someone help me Thanks

red mail francis edgar cartwright and florance (honoria/harriett) smith
francis edgar cartwright was born 1875 in aston, he married florence smith (b 1880 in kidderminster) in 1899 and they had 3 children, Gladys (b 1899), Frank edgar(b&d 1901) and Horace(b 1902). their son frank edgar died in 1901 aged just 3 months. Francis and florence "disappear" sometime after 1901 census, although 1911 census his father says no deceased children. in 1911 both gladys and horace are staying with relatives. gladys is my childrens ggmother and she told her children that she and horace were orphaned by about age 11. She states her father as deceased on her 1918 marriage cert, both her and Horace get his name wrong on their marriage certs indicating they may not have spent long with their father. frank and florance are a gap in our family history, we'd love to know what happened to them after 1902.

red mail Bond/ Field 1800's
I am searching for any leads for my maternal great grandparents Harry Field born about 1877 in Birmingham. His father John was listed as a labourer on the marriage certificate, and Annie Bond born about 1872-4 ? Birmingham. Her father William was listed as brass dryer who was illiterate(unable to sign his name). The Bonds may have originated in Ireland. So far I haven't been successful in finding out anything about them or their lines, they had one daughter, my grandmother Violet. I believe they parted at some stage and my grandmother was brought up by a lady called Lucy. If there is anyone out there that can help I would be eternally grateful as I live in Australia it is difficult to do hands on research.
Lois Smith, Kings Heath
My great-grandfather's (Charles) death certificate in 1952 had Lois Smith as the informant. She was his grandaughter and lived at 52 Markham Road, B'ham 14 at that time. Electoral roll searches show occupiers whose names mean nothing to me, but no Lois. I had never heard of her until I found the certificate and my one cousin remembers her but knows nothing, not even age or her place in the family. On the 1911 census all 6 surviving children were girls - she could be illegitimate - and with the surname it is difficult to prove if the two children who died were boys or girls. So, can anyone help me please? AUGUST 2013 I now have found Lois! Sadly she died in 2009, but at least my mystery has been solved. She was the daughter of one of the girls who then married a Mr. Smith, so confusing me! I have been in touch with Mr. Smith and he has given me information which really has cleared up my mystery and given an insight into my great-grandfather.
